Renee and Ronald
August 6, 2005
Seattle, Washington
Photography by Hanson Photography
ABOUT THE BRIDE: Renee Cachuela is a native of Newtown
Square, PA right outside of Philadelphia. She received a marketing
degree from St. Joseph's University in 1995 and a Masters in Early
Childhood Education and a Master's in Special Education in 2000 and
2001 respectively from Boston College. She is currently a special
education consultant in a Seattle elementary school as well as the
owner of a new event planning company It's Eventful.
She enjoys scrapbooking, triathlons, and other outdoor activities.
ABOUT THE GROOM: Ronald (Rusty) Metty Jr. grew up in
Stillwater, MN and Appleton, WI. He moved to Seattle about 11 years
ago and pursued a career in graphic design. He is currently a web
designer for Expedia. He enjoys working on our house, playing with
our two Jack Russell's and reading.
HOW WE MET: I had only been in Seattle for 18 days. It was
my first "girls night out" in Seattle. Jen (who just recently moved
from New Hampshire) and I were meeting Lisa (who just moved from
Colorado) and her boyfriend (now husband) downtown at the Back Door
for his birthday. Rusty was one of his friends. After some persuasion,
I agreed to meet him the next morning for a run and breakfast. No
numbers were exchanged, only a time and meeting place. The meeting
place happened to be Starbucks in Fremont. No big deal so I
thought...do you know how many Starbucks are in this town?? I was a
newbie-what did I know?!?! Luckily, I found the Starbucks, I found the
man and the rest is history.
ENGAGEMENT: For the July 4, 2004 weekend we had a trip
planned for me to visit Rusty's hometown. After a party at his
parent's house for the 4th, we headed outside towards the ponds. I
was fascinated by the sounds I heard since we were in the country.
Turns out there were hundreds of bull frogs croaking. The moon was
shining down on the pond and we sat on the bench listening to the
frogs. He turned to me and asked me to marry him.
PLANNING: I planned the whole thing myself. As a new
wedding and event planner, I was excited to see what I could do for my
wedding. I wanted my wedding to be classic and elegant and something
guests would remember. It went off without a hitch and I couldn't
have done it without my assistant Liana. There were so many little
details to cover and special touches we included for our guests.
If you have questions or comments for Renée and Rusty please
e-mail them.
